This story was inspired after my mother’s parrot Charlie (previously my brother Christoper’s) escaped. He was out for six days and nights in the wild. A lovely lady rescued him when she opened her door and let him hop in. He was dehydrated, his head was bleeding from another bird attacking him. He couldn’t even fly, because his wing was damaged and had no energy, as a result of not having any food. Charlie was so pleased when my mother came for him; he jumped straight back into his cage and slept for four days. Charlie made a full recovery, but it didn’t stop him from getting into more mischief. When Charlie reached the age of 18, we felt it was time for him to be around other parrots. He moved to Hoo Farm, Telford, where he now lives with a variety of birds.
